AREA II - All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)
AREA III - All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership.
If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.
If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS: Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:
AFSC: 1P0X1 Individual must currently be a 5 or 7 level with the 1P0X1 career field or able to obtain a 5 skill level within 1 year.
NOTE: THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS
CURRENT MILITARY APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF CURRENT RIP OR ARMY PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS RECORD (PQR) ALONG WITH APPLICATION, OR APPLICANTS WHO ARE SEPARATED FROM MILITARY SERVICE MUST PROVIDE COPY DD214.
LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION: MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 40 in the Mechanical area. ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

EVALUATION METHODS: Applications will be reviewed to determine basic eligibility. MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office): Inspects and maintains ALSE (Aviation Life Support Equipment) for aviators and crew members. ALSE includes helmets with communication gear and weapon sighting device, survival vests comprised of various components, survival radios, cold/ hot/ over water survival kits, life rafts/life preserves, oxygen masks, first air kits, night vision goggles torso harness assemblies, flight clothing, anti-exposure assemblies, and body armor. Performs other duties as assigned.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant’s knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work such helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment, oxygen masks, night vision goggles, etc., ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG 09/10: Must have 18 months experience in which applicant has gained the knowledge and skills in working with aviation life support systems.
KNOWLEDGE of aviation life support equipment.
ABILITY to read and interpret military manuals.
KNOWLEDGE of supply procedures and property accountability.
ABILITY to collect information and present to various sized groups.
ABILITY to use common power and hand tools.
SKILL in the use of a variety of test equipment, hand and portable power tools.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Study successfully in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 hours per week) for 6 months of experience. Course must be directly related to the work of the position.
