Dozens Of Veterans Groups Expected At

State Memorial Day Ceremony

 

 

 


WHO: Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, Maj. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth, The Adjutant General, retired Col. Stephen G. Abel, DMAVA Deputy Director for Veterans Affairs, senior military and veterans leaders will join dozens of veterans' organizations to honor our nations fallen service members at the State Memorial Day Ceremony.

Details: The annual Memorial Day commemoration ceremonies will begin with a parade of color guards from various veterans organizations led by the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery Joint Honor Guard. Maj. Gen. Rieth and Col. Abel will be the key speakers. Other highlights include the 63rd Army Band, a 21-gun salute, flyover by F-16 jets; and the presentation of memorial wreaths by representatives of more than 30 veteran and service organizations who will parade to the public assembly area.

 

The Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery is New Jersey's sole state-operated veterans' cemetery. Dedicated in 1986, it is managed by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. The Doyle Cemetery is the busiest state veteran cemetery in the nation, averaging 2,750 interments each year. It is the final resting place for more than 43,000 veterans and family members.
