Hospitals

  • Hospital Performance Report
    Describes New Jersey hospital performance in treating patients with heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and patients having surgery. Ranks hospitals by county, region and treatment area. Provides links to health care resources. Gives advice on patient rights, patient safety and taking an active role in your health care.
  • Cardiac Surgery Report
    Reports on mortality rates for each New Jersey hospital performing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Compares death rates for each hospital to the statewide average, and includes patient mortality rates for individual cardiac surgeons.
  • Hospital CompareU.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
    Federal database provides data on acute-care hospital performance on 21 measures of quality care. Includes contact information for hospitals, a checklist for choosing a hospital, and information on patient rights.

Nursing Homes and other Long-Term Care

  • Important Announcement Regarding the New Jersey Report Card
    The New Jersey Report Card has been replaced by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Five Star Rating system. This system includes a comprehensive rating structure, which allows comparison of federally certified Nursing Homes in New Jersey and across the country.     Guide for adults planning for their future financial, health and housing needs. Describes programs that provide medical, financial, legal, and social service assistance. Includes consumer checklists and helpful resources.
  • Nursing Home Compare - U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
    Find and compare nursing homes in New Jersey and nationwide. Includes quality ratings, information on nursing home oversight and staffing, and an overview of nursing home alternatives.

Home Health

  • Home Health Compare -U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
    Federal database allows searches of Medicare-certified home health agencies. Provides information on Medicare-covered services, type of ownership, and agency performance on quality-of-care measures.

Ambulatory Surgery Centers

  • Survey and Accreditation Status for State-Licensed Ambulatory Surgery Centers
    The Date of Last Survey represents the most recent date of a Medicare certification and/or State licensure survey. It excludes complaint investigations, which are recorded separately. Other surgery facilities exist in New Jersey as private physician practices, which do not require State licensure and may or may not be certified for the Medicare program.

Renal Dialysis Facilities Providing Chronic Hemodialysis

  • Uninsured Treatment Obligations
    List presents the percentage of free treatments provided by each facility. Law requires that each facility provide up to 3.5 percent of total treatments as free.

Managed Care

  • New Jersey HMO Performance Report
    HMOs and point-of-service plans compared in areas of preventive care, treatment, and customer satisfaction. Report published by the Department of Banking and Insurance.

Medical Doctors, Podiatrists and Optometrists

  • New Jersey Health Care Profile
    Searchable database of profiles on individual medical doctors, podiatrists and optometrists.  Find information on credentials, education, disciplinary actions, hospital restrictions and malpractice payments. May include languages spoken and health plans accepted.  Search by geographic area, hospital affiliation and medical specialty. Site maintained by the Division of Consumer Affairs in the Department of Law and Public Safety.

Prescription Drug Prices

  • New Jersey Prescription Drug Price Registry
    Compare retail prices for the 150 most commonly prescribed drugs. Registry updated monthly by the Division of Consumer Affairs in the Department of Law and Public Safety

Clinical Trials

  • ClinicalTrials.gov
    A service of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the site offers patients and families up-to-date information on thousands of clinical trials under way in more than 140 countries.
