The report, Bariatric Surgery in New Jersey, 2005, resulted from the discussions and recommendations of a work group the Department formed to assess bariatric surgery prevalence in the state. Since there is no bariatric surgery registry data in New Jersey, the report's analysis relied on hospital discharge data supplemented by death records.
